Worth knowing
- JPEG has no transparency. Converting a PNG with a transparent background to JPEG fills it with white, because that is the only thing JPEG can do. WebP keeps it.
- Quality only applies to JPEG and WebP. PNG is lossless, so the slider does nothing for it and is hidden.
- Converting cannot restore detail. A JPEG saved at low quality and converted to PNG becomes a lossless copy of a blurry picture, not a sharp one.
- HEIC from an iPhone usually will not open, because most browsers cannot decode it. Share it as JPEG from the phone first.
- Large pictures are limited by your device's memory rather than by us. A few dozen megapixels is fine; a hundred may not be.
